Raum 02.588,

Christoph, a deaf-born, studied Biology (Dipl. Biol.) in Erlangen at FAU and in Kiel at CAU. In 2002, he finished his PhD with the topic „Biosynthesis of very long chain fatty acid synthesis in yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)“ at the chair of Biochemistry, Prof. Eckhart Schweizer, at the FAU. Thereafter, Christoph worked as Post Doc at the chair of Biochemistry of Prof. Uwe Sonnewald at the FAU in the group of Frederik Börnke. In 2008, he started his career as “Akademischer Rat” at the FAU at the Chair of Pharmaceutical Biology of Prof. Wolfgang Kreis and studied the pathways of cardenolide biosynthesis in Digitalis ssp. plants and transformation of those pathways in yeast cells, generating artificial cells in a synthetic biology 2.0 manner. 2016 he received his appointment as “Akademischer Oberrat”; since 2021, Christoph is safety and administrative officer at the Chair of Pharmaceutical Biology.
